ELAINE L. SAUNDERS (nee DESTREE) Long time employee of CBC Suddenly at her home on Sunday, December 27, 2015, age 76. Wife of the late Walter Saunders. Dear mother of Christopher (Margaret), and Michael. Loving grandmother of Sian, Cole, Brendan and Paige. Sister of Cecile Brandon (Wayne) and Bill Destree. Elaine began her TV career in Winnipeg in 1953. She has the distinction of being the longest serving woman in television in Canada. Friends will be received at the DIXON-GARLAND FUNERAL HOME, 166 Main Street N. (Markham Road) on Friday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Justin Martyr Church, 3898 Hwy. 7, Unionville, on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Interment Christ the King Cemetery. If desired donations may be made to The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation or Markham Stouffville Hospital.
